Pair-Go Play Off Match!

This year Romania got a place among other 8 european countries to participate in the World Amateur Pair-Go Championship which is held in Tokyo, Japan during 14th-18th of november.

Our country managed to earn points in order to qualify for this big event due to the efforts of two pairs who got pretty good results in the European PairGo Championship both last year and this year, Laura Avram 2d and Lucian Corlan 5d finished 4th two times in a row and Adelina Sora 1d and Cornel Burzo 6d took 3rd place this year without playing last edition.

They also meet in the National Championship last year where Adelina, Cornel finished 1st while Laura, Lucian were 2nd.

The ruleset to decide who will play in Japan was not very clear so the Romanian Go Federation decided to set up a play off match consist of 3 games in order to send the strongest pair to the World Pairgo competition.

The play-off took place in august 29th in Tirgu Mures, organized by Shusaku Go Club (www.shusaku.ro) and hosted by the owner of the club, Mr. Balasz Arpad who provided the best conditions to the players and also broadcasted the games on KGS.

The winning pair was Adelina Sora 1d and Cornel Burzo 6d (member of Shusaku Go Club), they managed to win 2-0 but both games have been very dramatic due to the pressure most probably.
